Deming, New Mexico to Mesa, Arizona, and East Coast Trip Wrap-up

After three nights in Alamogordo, we continued east for about two hours and spent one night in Deming, New Mexico at the Harvest Host site: Lescombes Winery.  We didn't even need to disconnect as we were level and the parking area was huge.

We had a late lunch and did some wine tasting in the winery and bought 2 bottles of plum wine. Yum!

Al pointing out his favorite of the tasting.

Unfortunately there was no wine making going on during our visit so we didn't get to take a tour of their operation.  But, we learned they have a retail store in the Albuquerque area so we can buy more of the Plum wine when we get back there.

We left Deming, New Mexico and drove east in to Arizona.

We arrived at our friend's, the McLarens, house in Tucson in the early afternoon.  Al tried to back the trailer into their RV parking spot behind the house but it was too hard from the angle we were at so we left the trailer parked on the side street of their house.  We hung out the rest of the day chatting and then out to Oregano’s for dinner.

The next morning we met up with another friend, Dan, and went for a 5 hr/8 mi hike where we walked from his Bear Canyon house to the trailhead and up into the canyon to Seven Falls.  What a great hike!

After hiking with Dan, we went over to RV Horizons RV Park to meet up with Gary & Joanne.  They are a couple we met while doing a Habitat For Humanity Build in Fredericksburg, Texas in fall of 2019.  We've crossed paths with them several times now and it's always nice to catch up and swap stories.

Then it was back to the McLaren's house where we went out for Mexican food and then got to use their Jacuzzi which was so nice after that long hike.  (I missed taking some photos of the McLarens and Gary & Joanne.)

This is our route for this entry.

On December 1, 2021 we left Tucson and arrived at Sunshine Acres Children's Home in Mesa, Arizona.  This was our location for another winter of volunteering in the Greenhouse and other assignments.

East Coast Trip Wrap-up:  What a trip and we made it!  We left Prescott Valley, Arizona on July 17th after a houseboat trip to Lake Powell and drove all the way to Maine in New England with stops to see friends, my family, and celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday and then we drove all the way back to Mesa, Arizona arriving on December 1st.  The truck and trailer all worked perfectly except for a slight issue with the power jack on the trailer that we replaced in Bangor, Maine.  We met up with lots of friends and family on this trip and saw a lot of this beautiful country.  Unfortunately due to Covid we were unable to get up in to Canada but so glad we did the trip before the price of diesel became crazy.

Here are our stops for this July-December trip.
