Mexico City Arrival

We arrived in Mexico City on July 17.

Spent the day catching up with family and eating.

We went to the Reforma Street in downtown and saw the angel statue that we climbed up in our last trip here two years ago.

We were with Carlos so that naturally included a stop for late night tacos!

On Wednesday Iramita & Karla took us to Puebla to the Hacienda Chautia and Zocolo.

On Thursday we started off the day with a bike ride with Irama and Benjamin and the dogs. We drove the bikes over to a park we've been before. So many people there doing all kinds of exercise. Then the kids (Irama, Karla, and Benjamin) made us molletes for breakfast. They were delicious!

Washing dishes

After washing all the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen we went back to Tia's house where Quico was waiting for us. He took us to a very nice part of the city (Polanco) where there is the aquarium Acuario Inbursa and the museum Soumaya. The aquarium had a nice display of jellyfish or in spanish, Madussa. They also had penguins which make me smile when I get to watch them walk.

After the aquarium we walked across the street to the museum. It was in a cool looking building. Each floor had a different exhibit. We saw ivory carved statues from China, religious paintings from the 15th century,  Renoir paintings,  and many sculptures. After the museum we walked through the mall which was just like a mall you would see in Newport Beach with many of the same designer stores. We ate dinner in the food court on the top level and then ate ice cream.

Our dinner (chorizo, chicken, steak, cheese, beans, guacamole, rice, and corn tortillas).
Pineapple yogurt with raspberry sauce and chocolate jimmies, Yum!

Later we played games with the kids.  We all have such great laughs!

On Friday we went to the Bicentennial park with Gabriel, Aida, Iramita, and Benjamin.  It's a very nice park.  Unfortunately I was enjoying the park so much that I didn't take any photos.

Tomorrow we hike in to a volcano.....stay tuned!
