Snow Canyon State Park - Wrap Up

While looking through photos, I found some more things to include in the blog about our time at Snow Canyon so this will be a wrap up entry.

One day when it was sunny but not too hot, Al was sliding one of our windows open and it just cracked into a million pieces!  There were small pieces of glass outside on the ground and inside behind our love seat.  We tried to clean it up as best we could and then covered the hole with a trash bag.  Now we looked like trailer trash!  😒

View from inside with trash bag covering the broken window.
Al called Grand Design, the manufacturer of our trailer, and of course our trailer just went out of warranty but they would ship us a new window for free.  We just needed to pay to have it installed or as my handyman husband chose, install it ourselves.  We did need to order a window sealing kit which cost $130!

And, of course, we had many rainy days while waiting for the window to arrive and then a clear day to install the replacement.

The window opening without a window.
We were not sure if Grand Design was sending us just the piece of glass that broke or the whole window in the frame.  We were surprised to receive a huge box with the entire window and frame.

Of course as is always the case, it took longer than expected to install the replacement but overall it went well.  Now we can see clearly again!

All fixed up!
During a pretty good rain storm, one of the paths through a wash in the park got covered with sand.  Al spent time clearing the path by shoveling all the sand!

One day four huge boxes arrived and I spent about a week rolling t-shirts for the gift shop during my free time at the visitor center.  A new skill to add to my retired resume!

Another day we were going to do the Padre Canyon trail (again!) when Jordan suggested driving up Rt 18 a few miles to the Red Mountain Trailhead so we did.

Here is a photo looking down from the deepest part of
Snow Canyon towards the park and campground.

The storms brought a steady supply of fresh snow in the mountains.

The trail was not easy with so many rocks.
Jordan described it as a Jeep Trail.

Before we left SCSP we hiked the Padre Canyon trail one more time before it got too hot.

Before we left SCSP for our vacation, we moved the truck and trailer up to the maintenance building for storage while we're in Pennsylvania.  It was tough getting it turned around in such a tight spot but Al managed.  The truck with extra cab and long bed did not help the situation!

One of our last days in Utah we met up with friends Joie and Mike for dinner in St. George.  We met them in Albuquerque last October at a Less Junk More Journey meetup and then I ran into Joie in the laundry room at an RV park in Amarillo, Texas and we caravanned to Wellington, Texas with them.  We kept in touch over the winter and spent three weeks together in Quartzsite in January.  We had a great time catching up and sharing our RV'ing stories.

I think that's about it from Snow Canyon for a while.  I'm sure we'll be back for short visits over the summer as we pass through the area.  Now, on to our vacation.
