California Visit

We left the RV in Las Vegas, rented a car, and drove to Orange County, California.  Joey, the son of our friends, Joe & Kathy, was getting married so we wanted to be a part of their big day.

Esmeralda & Joseph

Esme and Joey rented out a house in Perris, CA for the ceremony and reception.  It was a beautiful home overlooking a lake with a beautiful pool and backyard.  It was Perfect!

The wedding and reception were beautiful and it was great to see our old friends, their kids, and grand kids.

We got together with some friends while we were in town.

Al, Nancy, Ira, and Frank

Nancy and Donna, my hair stylist for years!

Nancy, Ly, Jackie, and Venkat (old work friends)

We stayed at the apartment of old my co-worker, Rodrigo, and his husband, Hector.  They moved from Chile to the United States less than a year ago.

Hector had a Virtual Reality (VR) headset so he was showing Al how to put together a 3-D puzzle.  I took a try too and it was really cool.  It's just funny watching someone else use the headset.

One night Hector cooked dinner for us and some other co-workers who also moved from Chile, Rafael, Lizbeth, and their daughter, Amelia.  I met them when I went to Chile in 2013 to do some training and kept in touch while I was still working.

Hors d'Å“uvres

Hector is originally from Spain and he met Rodrigo in Santiago, Chile.  Hector cooked us Fideuà which is a seafood dish originally from the coast of Valencia that is similar to paella, but with pasta noodles instead of rice. Its main ingredients are pasta noodles, fish, and shellfish. It is seasoned mainly with lemon.

Another evening we met up with church friends for a Duffy boat ride in Newport Harbor.  We were in a small group for many years with Gary & Leslie, and Frank and Denise (who is now deceased).  Joe & Gloria also joined us along with Frank's girlfriend, Kathy.  It was a beautiful evening spent with friends.

It was a beautiful evening on the water in Newport Beach with our friends.

On Sunday we met friends from another small group for church and brunch.

Kim & Robin, Nancy & Al

We met up with Al's Mom, Carmen, and her boyfriend, Roberto, at In-n-Out.

We also saw our friend, Sonia.

And on our drive back to Las Vegas, we stopped off to see Al's old work friend, Brett and his wife, Kimberly.  They live in Twenty-nine Palms out near Joshua Tree in California.  Brett made us some Cincinnati chili which has no beans for lunch.

It was a whirlwind trip to California and we're glad we got to see as many people as we did.  It has been three years since we were back!  We also stopped off to visit the tenants in our house in Tustin.  We've had the same tenants the whole 5 years we've been in the road and we're so thankful for that!

Once we get back to Las Vegas, we're picking up the RV and headed north.  Time to get out of the desert and heat!

Chehalis, Washington and St Helens, Oregon

We left Ilwaco, Washington and drove inland (east) to Chehalis, Washington to a Thousand Trails park.  We found an open site we liked and go...
