We left Ilwaco, Washington and drove inland (east) to Chehalis, Washington to a Thousand Trails park. We found an open site we liked and got set up.
See Al working on top of the slide on the right? Al replaced the rubber strip on the slide above the kitchen table. |
Most of our time spent in this area was doing chores and getting our mail. We did play some miniature golf and listen to live music in the clubhouse at the campground. And, we picked more blackberries from the bushes on our walk on the trails in the campground.
We saw this guy on a trail. Don't know what kind it is and it doesn't matter. It's a snake! Yuck!
We left Chehalis, Washington and drove back in to Oregon to the Elks lodge in St Helens. It was only a 1.5 hour drive. We were hoping one of their 12 full hookup sites would be available but there were all full when we arrived. Luckily we have the option to dry camp so after we added some fresh water to the tank, we parked the RV and set up.
We ate dinner at the lodge one night. It is very nice and bright inside.
Nice view from the lodge patio of the Columbia River |
Don't know if this is someone's house but it was beautiful to see across the river. |
One day we walked to downtown St Helens and walked along the water and saw some house
boats docked in the marina and some big ships traveling the river.
The city of St Helens is only 5.5 square miles and it's more recent claim to fame is the Riverfront District in St. Helens, Oregon served as the backdrop for the 1998 Disney Channel Original Movie Halloweentown. The film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel Twilight also filmed in the town.
I didn't see either movie but maybe you'll recognize some scenery.

Next we're continuing south and east to Sunriver, Oregon where we're going to meet up with our friends, Patty & Lenny again.
Thanks for following along......
We love the view at the Elks lodge in St Helens overlooking the green trees and into the river. We found it is very clean and the people are very friendly. Thank you for another great post we look forward to your next one.
