Prismas Basalticos, Churros, and Lourdes

Today, a van load (7) of us drove to Prismas Basalticos in the state of Hidalgo.  This place is a canyon formed by lava rock that cooled slowly with water to create these geometric rock formations.  It was a pretty area and I most enjoyed walking down inside the canyon to the refreshing waterfalls.

There was a zip line across the canyon for 50 pesos (~$2.50 US) so we all did it!  It was short and fun and not scary at all.  The most impressive was that Tia Eva even did it!  I love her spunk at 70 something years old!

Next we went on a boat ride in a man made lake which filled in and covered an old factory. You can still see the smoke stack and part of the chimney and that is all that can be seen above water.

When we returned home, Armando's wife and daughter (Grisel and Grisel) stopped over to see us.

The next day Iramita and Benjamin took us downtown for churros but first we stopped to check out the Performing Arts center.

Later we were back home and playing with Romina.

Then we went to Al's sister, Lordes, house for dinner.  She's a great cook too!  It runs in their genes!

Another day Quico, Tia Eva, and Aida took us to a restaurant called Sanborns for lunch. Sanborns also has a bar and a department store. Tia won't rest until she buys me something so I picked out a necklace since it will easily fit in the RV.

Then we walked over to an old church where Al's grandmother's ashes are in a niche inside the church. I met his grandmother once briefly while we were dating and she didn't speak English so I didn't really know her.

Next we're off to Oaxaca for the weekend!
